A Shirt Full of Citrus

a shirt full of citrusI love citrus season here.  I just went up, in my slippers, to check the top tank, and the lime tree was dropping fruit, and the less favoured mandarin tree was loaded with mandarins that are small and thin skinned but sooo sweet, and then I passed the lemon tree, and the kumquat, and then the grapefruit.  By the time I got down to the house again, my shirt was full of citrus. I’m feeling a batch of Lime Syrup coming on, and maybe some Lime Pickles too.

mmmm…. they look terrific! I can’t wait until my baby citrus trees start producing. At the moment we have a lemon that is about 4 years old. We’ve harvested lemons for a couple of years, but this year is the first really good year. I planted an orange, lime and mandarin last year, so we’ll be set soon 🙂

Oooh yummy, no citrus yet for me except lemons. My trees aren’t old enough yet. 🙁 Lime syrup sounds lovely

They look wonderful! We’re finally getting lemons too – not in glut quantities, but it’s so satisfying to be able to go and get one from the backyard for dinner! 🙂
