Metgasco Suspends its Clarence Moreton Coal Seam Gas Operations

The media release is here.  After yesterday’s post, it’s nice to follow up with this.  Metgasco goes, and I so want to thank and congratulate the protectors who stuck it out through floods and mud and arrests and weeks of the stress of holding the front line, and all the others including specially Lismore mayor Jenny Dowell, who contributed to the victory.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever does. (Margaret Mead)

I love that Margaret Mead quote. Great news on the mining suspension. We have recently learned a gold mine has placed a claim over a huge portion of our area (including our property). Eeek.

The same thing happened here regarding the pulp mill…there is still a chance that it might go ahead but we are watching and waiting. Well done on stopping a giant 🙂

YAY!! Farewell to Metfiasco 🙂 🙂 Many smiling faces in the local community since the news. Heartfelt thanks to the lovely protectors who, like you say, braved all sorts of weather for the cause, and also had fun whilst doing it. People like the Knitting Nannas Against Gas, the Chooks Against Gas, Girls against Gas with their cute outfits. The people who put their welfare on the line for the good of all. Hope the pollies took notice of us – for once. Joy
