There are lots and lots of pleasures to gardening – fresh food, creative space, exercise, frugality – but one of the very best of them has to be this. Off to visit my sister and family for the weekend, and a box of garden greens to take. All the things that are so in season you can’t even see where they came out of the garden – lettuce, parsley, silver beet, kale, dill, coriander, mint, spinach, lemon grass, spring onions, chinese cabbage. And some lemons to go with them, before the cockatoos get them all.
Garden Gifting

What a wonderful gift to receive, WAY better than cut flowers!!
There’s something immensely satisfying about sharing or receiving homegrown produce fresh from the garden. I’m lucky enough to be sandwiched between neighbours who also have yummy veggie patches and swapping surplus produce is a regular activity – we don’t all grow the same edibles so it’s one way to get more on the table!
Treasure, pure treasure! So fresh and green in the middle of winter, just lovely. Our spinach is going gangbusters, and as you suggested (kind of), we planted some bok choy to distract the slugs, and it’s been working! 🙂
Hi Linda, this is my first visit here. That box of vegetables looks like a very thoughtful gift to receive. I wish my garden was as abundant as yours…sadly it has been neglected in recent months. I’ll be back to take in more of yours!
