Look what arrived today! Actually, two boxes like this. Six kilograms of organic, loose-leaf, fair trade, low packaging, competitively priced tea. Single origin from Sri Lanka. So happy with it!
I complained on Facebook about how hard it is to find loose leaf tea these days. Everyone seems to go for tea bags, which I don’t understand at all. I love my little one person teapot, used every morning for my black tea with a few slices of fresh turmeric, and every evening for green tea. And I love my six cup teapot that comes out whenever there are visitors, or a crisis, or bad news or good news or a big decision. No plastic or little tags or staples. Tea leaves go to the worms. Box goes in the fire. But this is a whole level up from that.
Heb Gardener messaged me back, with this wonderful link. https://www.tradewinds.org.au/organic-ceylon-tea~224. With what Sri Lankan people are going through right now, a source that delivered the maximum amount back to growers, and the least amount to Woolworths, seemed like enough of a good idea. Buying in bulk and minimising packaging was a bonus. Tradewinds “About” page says it is “a volunteer based, not-for-profit company who has been working to make trade fairer since 1977”. I did a bit of research, and the fairtrade claims are supported.
They sell coffee too.
I’ve purchased Sri Lanka’s coconut oil for years. I’ll try their tea next. However, I also like to support Qld. Nerada loose tea not because it is grown in Qld. but because I like the taste.
If you like Nerada, I think you might really like Tradewinds Sri Lankan tea.
Hi Linda, I’ve been drinking dilmah tea for years, what is this tea like? I’ve been looking for bulk tea!
I really like it. It is not too strong, a nice, floral, Ceylon Breakfast tea.
